For many clubs getting players to return to senior rugby has been a challenge and we’ve been no different. This year we’ve consolidated our senior sides focused on fielding a competitive 2s team, to develop young Colts players and to support the first squad’s growth, and for wider squad players to integrate with the Grizzlies to connect the club from top to bottom.
This has worked incredibly well for Our 2s ‘the Romans’, who won the Herts Merit League 1 last season, and now compete in Essex Merit Premier division, This weekend our guys won 24-19 against league leaders Eton Manor, to go second in the league behind them. Later in February we play them again to fight it out for top playoff spots – it’s going to be an exciting finish to the season.

The 2s results, regeneration and performance has been led thanks to the hard work of Head Coach Eddie Panting and forwards player-coach Phil Brunt, integration with the 1st team squad coaching team, and a highly committed pool of home grown OAs talent. Go well lads!
