By mid-October in most seasons we’d be 6 weeks into league campaigns, seeing the benefit of pre-season and getting ready for the bad weather and darker months. This year is nothing like that as we all know.
These are serious circumstances and with tough times behind but also ahead of us rugby won’t be at the top of most people’s lists of considerations. However, at the time of writing, we’re delighted to be able to say that we’ve been making great progress on getting rugby back at Woollams, for as long as we’re able.
The Senior club returned to a variety of training activities between July and late August. In early September we were able to get the majority of the Mini & Junior section back to the club.
All training has been observing both the government and RFU guidelines and we as a club are now approaching 800 players and coaches regularly involved in training.
We would all like to be playing matches and enjoying socialising together at Woollams, but for the time being that’s not possible. The situation could change for the better or worse at any time, but this is a great effort and a big thank goes to everyone involved from the coaches and managers to the medical staff and players and parents for all working together to ensure it could happen.
In the meantime, please ensure if you are at Woollams you are following the guidelines, completing track and trace and stay safe!
