We’re delighted to announce two new roles at Old Albanian RFC for the 22/23 season and beyond.
Firstly, Eddie Panting has been appointed as Youth Director of Rugby. Eddie’s role will be to continue and expand on the work he’s been doing in recent years as the Club’s YDO, supporting the development of young players. His new role will expand on this, providing further support to Girls and Boys across the Minis and Juniors and providing a link between them and the Senior club.
For those who do not know Eddie, he played for the club through Minis and Juniors before making his debut for the 1st XV at 17 years old, playing for over 15 years before moving into coaching. Eddie has since coached throughout the club, currently as an assistant coach with the 1st XV squad and Head Coach of the 2nd XV. Away from OAs Eddie is a teacher at Aldwickbury School.
Our second new appointment is Gareth Hatherley-Hurford, who will be our new Coach Development Manager. Gareth’s role will be responsible for supporting, educating and mentoring the coaches within the club, working with the YDoR to share experiences and learning from around the club.
Gareth is a Level 4 qualified coach with an extensive CV, currently working as OA’s 1st XV Attack Coach. Alongside this he works for England Rugby as a coach mentor and educator, providing guidance and support for those working towards their Level 2, 3 and 4 coaching badges.
